This year is already passing quickly; it seems like it was only last week that I was discussing Valentine’s Day parties, and now it is time for St. Patrick’s Day. Okay, I admit it; I am not the world’s best party planner, nor am I the world’s best planner, period. I tend to procrastinate. In fact, that’s probably not even the best word for it. I do everything as last minute as possible. I don’t know what it is; but I’ve always been this way and try as I have to change, I just am who I am.

I am a diehard party lover; any excuse I have for throwing a party I will gladly take. After the winter holidays I go into a bit of a funk; after all, the magic of the season is what I love best and when the magic is over and we are left with just the cold (at least in my part of the country) I experience quite a letdown (at least until Valentine’s Day). I am a firm believer in celebrating all applicable holidays. Life is full of so many tough times and so much hard work that any opportunity you can have to kick back and have some fun is more than allowed. I married into an Irish family who is absolutely serious about St. Patrick’s Day. We are all looking to save as much money as we can right now. Times are tough and there is no extra money in most cases. My son’s elementary school is forever throwing parties. It’s really great; I know that they will all only be this age once when they actually want their parents in the school and are happy to have cupcakes and crafts to celebrate a holiday big or small.
