Wow! I can’t believe it is already here. My wife and I got all of the food, and we are having some people over to have a fun 4th of July party tomorrow. We got some traditional favorites like hamburgers and hotdogs, and we also got some brats for the occasion. I can’t wait to start up that grill and get everything going.

The 4th is more than just decorations and good food. It is really a day to be thankful and to realize all we have as Americans. Everyday it just amazes me how quickly the year is moving. It seems like yesterday I was shoveling the driveway the day after New Year, and now the 4th of July is coming up in a week or so. This winter and spring I embarked upon what seemed to be a never-ending construction project – the installation of our new in-ground pool in our backyard. There’s nothing like having a birthday that falls dangerously close to a holiday; and when that holiday is July 4th then you’re talking about a birthday celebration on a whole other level. It’s crazy how fast time flies. It seems as if it was just yesterday that the kids were getting on the bus for the first day of school back in September.
