Everyday it just amazes me how quickly the year is moving. It seems like yesterday I was shoveling the driveway the day after New Year, and now the 4th of July is coming up in a week or so. The 4th of July for me and my family is a time to have some fun, barbecue, and revel in thanks for being a part of a country that gives me the freedom that it does.

Let me just start by saying that I am not much of a sports guy. I played soccer, basketball, and baseball all through high school, but I do not have much will or stamina to sit through a game that is on T.V.. I do, however, have many friends that love sports and since I have a fairly large T.V. and the room for people to move around without being cramped, my house ends up being the landing ground for the big games.

My wife watches with me sometime, but she usually crafts with some of the other guys wives while we watch the game in the basement. We don’t have people over for games very often, but every once in a while we do.

If you are like most people…most geeky people like myself…you went to see Iron Man 2 at midnight. If you are even more like me…a super geek…you hosted an Iron Man 2 party before the showing. I know you have probably lost a large amount of respect for me, but what can I say, I am excited about the Iron Man film.

I had some friends come over to my wife and my house before going over to the theater and we watched the first Iron Man while sitting in a room filled with all of the Iron Man 2 birthday party supplies we could get. Sorry I did not get to write last week. My niece was having her 2nd birthday party. Talk about a great time. The party took all day, for the most part, so I did not have a chance to get back and write anything.

Where to begin?

My sister-in-law did a wonderful job decorating for the party using Garden Fairy birthday party  supplies for the main theme for the party. I though it would be messy, but  the cupcake cups held the ice cream well and made the party that much more enjoyable. The cake that she made looked like a town…literally! There was a base that had a series of houses made out of different delicious materials. She said it took her about 7 hours to assemble. My sister-in-law is serious about partying.

Every year people look forward to the Summer movie season with great anticipation…okay…so I do, but I am sure there are others out there. One of the strange things about the tradition of the Summer movie season is that it is now creeping into the early Spring months, where it used to be contained to the months of June through August for the most part.

What does this directly have to do with throwing a party? Nothing.

While nature is coming out into the beautiful spring weather I love to see the increase of new baby announcement storks and signs outside of people’s homes. I can’t believe it has been so long since I graduated. My college graduation party was one of the first big celebrations I ever experienced that revolved around me. Everywhere I go I hear about How To Train Your Dragon, the new animated film by Dream Works that is coming out at the end of March. The movie looks really good, and I am excited to see it. I am not the only one excited about the movie, one of my nephews is already begging for a How To Train Your Dragon Birthday from his parents. He has always liked dragons and medieval themes whether it is in stories or movies.
