I was recently elected president of my children’s elementary school PTA. Recently, my husband and I purchased our first home together. It is, after all, a buyer’s market and we are lucky enough to be in a financial position to take advantage of the situation. I’ll tell you what, I live in a great development. Just as an example, our entire development hosts a Halloween party every year for the kids and adults. If your kid is anything like my kid (and the rest of the kids in America), he is obsessed with the cartoon character Wall-E. Well, we’re getting down to it. Before you know it, it’ll be October and we’ll be smack dab in the middle of the 2008 World Series. I am a huge baseball fan, so this is a big deal for me every year no matter who plays. (Of course, I always want the Yankees, but that’s another story.) Every year for the past five years, I’ve thrown a World Series party, usually scheduled for game one. It’s a great way to kick off the series. My party has become a huge success, mostly because I serve good food and have a flat screen HDTV. I always like to go all out with the party, which is why it has become a tradition.

I have to admit, my World Series party didn’t start out a huge success. It was a good party, don’t get me wrong, but it just wasn’t festive enough, if that makes sense.
