Sorry I did not get to write last week. My niece was having her 2nd birthday party. Talk about a great time. The party took all day, for the most part, so I did not have a chance to get back and write anything.

Where to begin?

My sister-in-law did a wonderful job decorating for the party using Garden Fairy birthday party  supplies for the main theme for the party. In addition to the supplies included in the pattern, she did a lot of unique decorating using tulle and similar materials mixed with flowers to make the party look extra beautiful. She told me that she used a lot of supplies that had been left over from my brother and her wedding two years ago. Talk about resourcefulness.

Amidst the beautiful decorations, she also made a very unique cake and some delicious food for snack and dessert. She used a souffle cup which most people use for cupcakes, and put ice cream balls in them with a little bit of fudge so everyone could have a hand full of Sundae. I though it would be messy, but  the cupcake cups held the ice cream well and made the party that much more enjoyable. The cake that she made looked like a town…literally! There was a base that had a series of houses made out of different delicious materials. She said it took her about 7 hours to assemble. My sister-in-law is serious about partying.

If you are going to be using some party supplies from a pattern, see if you have anything laying around and be resourceful to see if you can make the party look really great without having to go way over budget.

Every year people look forward to the Summer movie season with great anticipation…okay…so I do, but I am sure there are others out there. One of the strange things about the tradition of the Summer movie season is that it is now creeping into the early Spring months, where it used to be contained to the months of June through August for the most part.

What does this directly have to do with throwing a party? Nothing.

It is, however, important because the widening of the movie season means there are more movies, which translates to more kids movies (or at least movies that are marketed to kids), and more birthday patterns from which to choose. Look at the movie line up for this year.

There are tons of kids movies and tons of birthday party supplies from which to choose to make any child’s birthday party amazing. From animated films like How To Train Your Dragon, Toy Story 3, and Shrek 4, to action films for the older children like Iron Man 2, there are more and more choices every day. There are not as many movie related birthday patterns for girls as there are for the boys, but there are some popular children show characters that are coming to the party market like Kai-Lin that can be used for boys or girls. Most of the girl related party patterns are princess, butterfly, or pony related while boy patterns appear to have to do with action and adventure (something much more often exploited in the warmth of summer).

With all of these additional choices, it can be very difficult to decide which pattern to use for your child’s birthday. Of course you need to listen to your child rather than just throwing a party that he or she may not like, but keep an element of surprise in the party so it can be extra special. While additional choices make party planning more difficult, it is also one of the benefits as you have more options as to how to prepare and what theme to use for the party.

The birthday party patterns for summer movie move very quickly, so if you want to place an order you should do it now so you can be sure to get it rather than waiting till it is too late and seeing the dreaded, “Out of Stock” message in nearly every store and website.

Have fun this year and get ready for a summer of fun with your kids. Despite all of the amazing movies that are on the way, and have already come out this year, remember to go outside a little bit as well and enjoy the warm weather.

While nature is coming out into the beautiful spring weather I love to see the increase of new baby announcement storks and signs outside of people’s homes. I know that babies are born during the winter as well, but due to the cold and nasty weather, many people keep the celebrations and the announcements indoors rather than sharing with the surrounding community.

My wife loves to help friends and family with wedding showers and even more with baby showers. There is nothing like the bright and joyful face of a mother to be at a party in her….baby’s honor. I love to see how the shower comes together as my wife uses all of her great ideas to prepare all of the goody bags and other party accessories that will make a soon to be mother feel extra special before she becomes “X’s Mom” rather than being called by her own name.

Between the economy, bills, a mortgage, and tons of other money related tasks that transform my wallet and bank account into a sieve of massive proportions, it can be difficult to afford all of the decorations and other supplies that can be necessary for a party to run smoothly. For example, without having all of the catering supplies needed to serve the food, meals would be long and difficult to present to guests.

Luckily we find all of the baby shower party supplies that we need at one place every year. We usually buy in small quantities, but since we often throw really big parties, we buy in bulk to save money. A case of 240 plates is much more affordable than, a package at a time of 25 plates.
