Some time ago I made the decision to stop making things so much harder on myself than was necessary. This winter and spring I embarked upon what seemed to be a never-ending construction project – the installation of our new in-ground pool in our backyard. Summer – at least for our kids – is officially here; and we are well on our way to planning the many activities that we will do over the coming months to make it a fun-filled summer vacation. Because I am a teacher I am fortunate enough to be able to be home with my kids over the summer so I would never consider sending them off to camp.

I am one busy person. And like most busy people I am continually doing things at the last minute simply because there isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done. My sister is expecting her first child – my first niece or nephew – and my family could not be more excited. It’s been difficult, however, sharing in this special time with her because she lives so far away.
